Dates to put in your diary... The Big Double Reed Day
| Director: Bob Porter In association with: ABRSM, BDRS, Brandenburg Sinfonia, Crowthers of Canterbury, Croydon Music and Arts, Fox UK, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Howarth of London, June Emerson Wind Music, Junior Guildhall, London Symphony Orchestra, Merton Music Foundation Date: Sunday October 10th 2010 Venue: Guildhall School of Music & Drama The first BIG Double Reed Day will take place at the Guildhall School in the Barbican on October 10th. Last year it was a bassoon-only day and we had 100 participants, but this year we anticipate at least 150 bassoons and 100 oboes. Like last year, the staffing list will grow as we receive more subscriptions so that classes will always be kept to low student/teacher ratios. Participants will be grouped in approximate age/ability levels. The course will cater for beginners (including starter oboe and mini bassoon) through to post-graduates and adults of all levels. Activities will include: Masterclasses, Reed Class, Try the Cor/Contra/Baroque Oboe/Baroque Bassoon, Solo Recital and Massed Double Reed Ensembles. It will also be possible to try a whole range of instruments and to buy a variety of music and accessories. Instrument technicians will be present for running repairs. A cafeteria service will be open all day. For further information visit : www.bigdoublereed.com Date of Event: Sunday, 10th Oct, 2010 Time of Event: 9.00am - 6.00pm |
